How to Import Outlook PST file in MS Office 365

One of my friend who has just switched to the Office 365 was facing problem while importing the Outlook PST file into the Office 365. He consults with me regarding the problem that he was facing while importing the PST file.

I am posting the Solution here as it may resolve some other users query too who are facing the same issue.

Office 365 is the cloud based version of MS office provided by Microsoft. Peoples are moving towards office 365 due to the Simplicity and ease of access it provides to the end users. You can access all your important mails and data from anywhere having availability of Internet.

Steps to Import the PST file in Office 365

To Import the PST file in Office 365, at first subscribe the plan of office 365 which is suitable for you.

Now Click on Exchange >> Permissions >> Compliance Management >> Add Mailbox Import Export role to the user.

Make a new folder on your drive and Paste the PST file in it. After that, Right click on the folder and click on Properties. Then click on Share Tab as shown below.

After sharing the folder copy the path of PST file and save it somewhere else as it will be required in the further process.

Now Click on Import Button in Office 365

It will generate a unique key and unique URL. Copy both of them and paste somewhere else.

Now Download the Azure Utility to upload the data. The command used to upload the data is given below:

AzCopy.exe /source:\\SERVER\SHARE /dest:{your unique URL}/SERVER/SHARE /destkey:{your unique key} /S /V:C:\Logfile\information.log

\\Server\Share –> Replace the field with the path of your PST file.

{your Unique URL} – Paste the copied URL without braces {}.

{your Unique key} – Paste the copied key without braces {}.

C:\Logfile : – This will create a folder Logfile in C drive in which it will maintain the information.log file.

It will take some time depends upon the size of your PST file.

After that make a check on both the fields shown below and click on the next button

Import the uploaded data to the specific mailbox

To import the data, create a csv file containing the required field given below:

Now check out the mailbox in which you have imported the PST file and that’s all. Hope it may be helpful for you
